Congratulations to the Jazz Band for its recent competition in the UNO Jazz Festival on Feb 19.  Our group was one of only five jazz bands in the "Jazz 1" category to earn a SUPERIOR rating.  This is the first time our Jazz ensembles have received the Superior rating since the 2006 event.  This is quite remarkable in light of the overall younger age level of our jazz band members.  Good job!!
 
   PHOTOS ADDED - From the Feb 18 band concert and the Feb 19 Jazz band performance at UNO.  And finally got some Pep Band photos added 2/24.
   Also, links for two Jazz Band songs at UNO were added 2/27.
 
BAND Scholarships - The Millard North band boosters award 4 scholarships for $500 to senior band students each year.  Submit your application to Mr. Rathbun by FRIDAY April 2nd at 3:00pm.  Late applications will not be accepted.  Pickup an application at the band office or click here.  Good luck!!   -   Application
 
AFTER PROM volunteers needed - Prom night is on Saturday May 8, and
following there will be an After Prom event.  Go to the volunteer section below or
at left to sign-up to plan and help out.  Click here for more info  -  After Prom
 
January Newsletter - great info for incoming Freshmen!!  - The Jan 2010 newsletter has now been posted (see the Newsletter link at left) and it includes a lot of good information especially for incoming Freshmen band students.  A minor change, the newsletter shows district instrument rental at $75, however for the current year is $90 and should be at that rate or slightly more for the 2010-11 year.
 
The 2010 summer schedule is posted on the page listed at the left.
The Uniform fitting schedule is also on that page, note that ALL students must
make one of these times to get their uniform.
 
CONCERT COOKIE VOLUNTEER SIGN-UP - See the Volunteer section.  It's that
time of year again when we need volunteers to bring 3 dozen cookies for the concert
season.  We ask that the cookies either be homemade or store bought homemade.
Before you volunteer, please make sure that your student will be playing at that
concert - not all bands play at each concert.  Dates that we need cookies are:
     Tue May 11 - Wind Ensemble, Symphonic and Concert Band
                              (Note: this is also Senior Recognition night)
Thanks for volunteering - the students really enjoy a snack after the concerts.

   Mar 2    - MNHS - 700pm - all winds
   Apr 22  - District Music Contest - (Chamber Winds - late afternoon/evening TBA)
   Apr 27  - MNHS - 700pm - all winds (senior band students/parents to be recognized)
   May 29 - Civic Aud. - 400pm - all non-senior winds

TAX RECEIPTS - Anyone wishing a donation receipt of band dues for tax

V O L U N T E E R  OPPORTUNITIES  It takes LOTS of behind the scenes
parental help and hard work to make the entire year's band season a success.
Premier Night will give you a chance to sign-up to help at many of the activities.
